Air Systems Engineering Ltd (ASEL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mainstream Engineering Ltd (MEL) and is an industrial fan and air system design and build organisation, providing purpose built equipment for combustion air, heating, drying, dust extraction and ventilation systems.  

ASEL is proud to have provided clients with a fast repair or custom design and manufacturing service that has enabled them to return their plants back to normal production in a very short time frame.  

Working with our clients MEL and ASEL provide practical solutions to increase the reliability and energy efficiency of their plant and equipment.

Since 1994 AIE has been recognized for heavy engineering expertise and ability to provide total mechanical engineering solutions. Its modern and efficient machine tools enable it to provide a diverse range of high quality, cost effective services to customers throughout NZ and the South Pacific from its base in Kawerau.

As no two jobs are exactly the same, the workshops are able to accommodate a wide range of work flows and job sizes. With some of the largest machining equipment in New Zealand AIE has the flexibility to react quickly to plant breakdowns and minimize production interruptions.

HUTEC provides shut and project management, design, CNC machining, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance expertise to our customers in geothermal and hydro power generation, pulp and paper, wood products and processing, dairy, fertiliser processing and others.

Our brand may be relatively new, but we have grown our team with the best people in industry, assembled a wealth of experience and successfully delivered over 100,000 hours of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance solutions to our customers, from our bases in Kawerau, Whakatane and Taupo.

Technical (tricky) work is our specialty; whether it’s reverse engineering 40-year-old pulp and paper equipment to perform better than new or managing sixty-plus trades people to complete dozens of complex tasks during a 24 hour shut window, nothing is too challenging – plus all work is completed transparently, so customers can see where every hour and dollar is captured (after all our motto is “Engineered Transparency”).

We also believe in investment in Kawerau and are currently building a large refurbishment workshop at 2 Manukorihi Drive; similarly, we recognise that our people are our greatest asset and we currently employ and train apprentices from the wealth of talent in the local community.

Industrial Site Services Limited, a New Zealand family owned and operated business, was formed 1991 to answer the call of industry to supply a reliable, professional and motivated rigging and scaffolding company.   We operate efficiently in the competitive and safety conscious environment which is construction.

ISS is a recognised achiever in the more difficult project tasks and in particular, maintenance and construction shut work at major installations such as power stations, cement works and pulp and paper plants.   We can organise, coordinate and communicate with our clients to achieve the best solution for both parties.

We operate a comprehensive rigging register and safety system including a documented hazard analysis for each job, resulting in a consistent level of safe operation that has received praise from our clients and the safety regulatory authority.  ISSL have recently gained Tertiary Level accreditation with ACC and have won awards for innovation to Safety on the Refining New Zealand Site and almost every SARNZ Award available.

Mainstream Engineering Ltd (MEL) provides mechanical design, maintenance engineering, and project management services to manufacturing and production industries. 

Based in the Bay of Plenty, MEL employs 30 staff and provides over 33,000 hours annually of engineering, planning, design, safety, project management and administration services to our clients.

Utilising the latest technology in 3D computerised modelling, FEA and CFD technology along with our strain gauging capability, we also simulate and measure existing plant/equipment for optimising or troubleshooting. 

We carry out both static and dynamic analysis, investigating vibration/resonance problems, static pressure and loading situations along with thermodynamics and fluid flow for optimisation of heat transfer, ventilation or reduction of fluid flow losses.

Oji Fibre Solutions Tasman mill has a capacity of about 300,000 tonnes of bleached and unbleached kraft market pulp used by manufacturers of high quality paper, tissue and building products.   Tasman’s fibre cement pulp is acknowledged in the fibre-cement building products industry as the worlds premium cellulose reinforcing fibre.

Putauaki Trust is an Ahu Whenua Trust which was established on 3 June 1981, and is currently owned by approximately 800 shareholders.  The shareholders are predominately descendants of Te Pahipoto, hapu of Ngati Awa of Te Teko. 

The principal activities of the trust comprise

• Dairy Farming;
• Cropping:
• Forestry;
• Investment;
• Property/land ownership;
• Geothermal development; and
• Leases.

Putauaki Trust has made 80 ha of land zoned industrial available for development within Kawerau’s industrial district which sits above the geothermal field.  Sites on a long term leasehold tenure are on offer.

William Ross Engineering is a family owned business delivering  outstanding Engineering and Manufacturing Services for over 50 years.

We have two engineering workshops specialising in precision general engineering, both with long serving trade qualified people and precision machinery.

Our main workshop is in Kawerau servicing the local pulp and paper industry and our other workshop is at BOP Gear Cutters in Mount Maunganui specialises in gear cutting and gearbox repairs.

We have the ability to handle most machining projects including CNC milling and turning, Dynamic Balancing as well as large lathe work, boring and surface grinding. We can supply and manufacture pins, bushes and spacers, etc to suit our customers’ requirements. We also have a portable Line Boring & Welding unit.

Scion is a New Zealand Crown Research Institute that specialises in research, science and technology development for the forestry, wood product, wood-derived materials, and other biomaterial sectors.

Our Industrial Cleaners are highly trained and are renowned for being hard-workers. They do some of the dirtiest and most dangerous jobs such as manual cleaning inside hot vessels and have experience on multiple industrial sites around the Central North Island.

SLH Industrial Painters are tough, strong, expertly trained to prepare, paint and protect in the most testing industrial environments.  We are on-site abrasive blasting & painting specialists with mobile equipment that means we can get to the most difficult locations.

Our pool of skilled and experienced Casual Workers are available to be on-hired to work for customers. We have robust recruitment processes in place to ensure our employees not only have the right skills for the job but are proven hard-workers and Drug-Free.
